Rosa Parks was raised in Alabama. She walked to school everyday. She was forced to drop out of high school. Then she married Raymond Parks. She Joined AACP. Rosa Parks was a seamstress in a department store in Alabama. She moved to Detroit, Michigan. Rosa Parks died in 2005.

Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from high school at 15. He then went to Moorehouse College. After that he settled in Montgomery, Alabama. He had 4 children. He was jailed over 20 times. Martin Luther King Jr. was stabbed in the chest and his house was bombed. He Wrote 5 books. He was named Time magazines man of the year. He won nobel peace prize. He was assassinated at a motel.

Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York. He was cut from his high school basketball team. He went to North Carolina. He was awarded the Naismith College player of the year. He was named Rookie of the Year. He led Chicago Bulls to 3 championships. He was the captain of Olympic team. He retired after his dad died. He tried playing baseball. But then returned to the Bulls. The Bulls won the championship 3 more times. He became the president of the Washington Wizards and then came back the next year to play for the Wizards. Michael Jordan Retired for good in 2003.

Al Qaeda Threatens to Kill Hostage

Al Qaeda’s north African wing has threatened to kill a French hostage unless four of its members are released within 20 days.

Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb made its demand in a statement dated Sunday, said the Washington-based Intelcenter, which monitors Islamist Web sites.

The Frenchman, Pierre Camatte, was kidnapped from a hotel in Mali in November.

The group wants the government of Mali to free four prisoners in exchange for Camatte’s release.

“Let France and Mali be forewarned that we give 20 days to fulfill our just demand or the two governments shall be fully responsible for the life of the French hostage,” the statement said.

Camatte was abducted four days before the group kidnapped three Spanish aid workers from neighboring Mauritania.

The Spaniards were still alive as of late December, according to the Spanish government. It has said that it is working toward their release, but has not revealed specifics.

In June, AQIM executed a British man after the British government did not give in to its demand to release Abu Qatada, a Jordanian considered to be al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden’s right-hand man in Europe.

In its message on Sunday, the group referred to the execution, saying, “We also call upon the French public opinion and the hostage’s family to pressure Sarkozy’s government to prevent the repetition of Golden Brown’s folly against his British citizen.”

The group began life as the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat, with aspirations to overthrow the Algerian government.

About 2004, it joined forces with al Qaeda and extended its reach across North and West Africa, carrying out a spate of kidnappings and deadly attacks.

President’s Afghan drawdown plan called risky, “unrealistic”

I think the president’s plan to take the troops out of Afghanistan is not very smart at all. If we have been fighting the war in Afghanistan for 8 years, it just would not make any sense to have wasted all of this time and young mens’ lives for nothing. Also even if they do pull the troops out, they will not be able to do it in the time that Obama says. I think Obama should leave it up to the generals of the army, because I don’t know why Obama thinks he knows anything about war because he has not experienced it. The troops should be left in Afghanistan to finish the war.

The first person I choose is my mom. I love my mom because she is very nice and gives me rides. Also she gave birth to me. What makes this person so special is that she is my mom and she loves me more than most people.

The second person I choose is my dad. I love my dad because he makes me get things done. Also he aided in giving birth to me. Something important he taught me is that if I want to be good at something, I need to practice at it. What makes this person so special is that he helps me with all of my sports and activities.

The third person is my stepdad. My stepdad taught me some good things about cars. Something important he taught me is you can do whatever you want as long as you don’t get caught. This person is special because he makes money to keep my house running.

Imagination Story

I just woke up and I had a really big beard. How long was I was here for? I looked around and saw that I was on a tiny island. In the distance I saw a little yellow square floating out in the sea. I took a while, but when it finally reached the shore I picked it up. It was Spongebob Squarepants. He was square and yellow and he had holes all over his body. Then he brought me underwater and I could breathe. I must be super. There was a coral tree underwater that looked different from the others. I swam up to it and it started talking to me. It told me about why Spongebob brought me down in the ocean. There was a never ending wall that the sea creatures couldn’t get over. They couldn’t get over the wall because they couldn’t swim. They were used to walking under water. I swam over the wall and told them what was on the other side. They gave me a heart-shaped box as a reward. Then I found a magic conch shell and I pulled the string and went back home.
